Youth-Led Creativity, Lasting Change - Why Your Business Should Back Spirix Studios
CGI mock up of Spirix Studios Renovation
What if your business could help transform the future of 300 young people every week, boost footfall on the high street and put Leigh on the map for all the right reasons? That is exactly what supporting Spirix Studios will do.
In Leigh, opportunities for young people to explore their creativity are few and far between. We know this because we have listened. Through the Looking Up in Leigh consultation, hundreds of young people told us they wanted more space for dance, performance and creative activities. They wanted somewhere safe, inspiring and, most importantly, theirs.
Right now, Spirix is doing everything it can in borrowed rooms, community halls and temporary pop-up spaces. These have kept the spark alive, but they limit what is possible. The truth is simple: our young people need a permanent home where they can flourish, and our town needs the visibility and pride that a thriving arts hub can bring.
Our vision: Spirix Studios on the High Street
In partnership with Structures Group, we are transforming an empty furniture shop in the centre of Leigh into a fully equipped, professional youth arts space. Spirix Studios will feature creative studios with sprung dance floors and professional lighting and sound, fully accessible facilities, a dedicated wellbeing room for young people, and a social space for youth work activities and community gatherings.
It will not be hidden away. Our home will sit proudly on the high street, with its doors open to everyone. We believe performing arts belong in the heart of our towns, helping to change perceptions and shine a light on the talent, energy and positivity that already exists here. It will always be led by the community.
Why this matters for Leigh
Leigh is a town where cultural activities are limited and social mobility is among the lowest in the country. Sport is widely available and supported, giving young people opportunities to realise their potential on the pitch or in the pool. For those with artistic talents, it is much harder to be recognised, encouraged and nurtured. Creativity is too often treated as a nice extra rather than a vital part of a young person’s growth, confidence and future opportunities.
Spirix Studios will change that. It will give local young people the tools, space and professional support they need to develop their skills, showcase their talent and take pride in themselves and their community. It will challenge outdated perceptions of Leigh, showing our town in a positive, inspiring light.

Be part of the final step
We are close to making Spirix Studios a reality and we need local businesses to help us get over the line. Your support will fund the essentials: a kitchen for hospitality, professional lighting and sound, an acro track for specialist training, and the ongoing costs of youth workers and artists who will bring the space to life every week.
